About Latina Voices

Columbia College Chicago journalism faculty member Teresa Puente has launched Latina Voices in 2008 voice to stories by or about Hispanic women. Puente, the editor and publisher of Latina Voices, formerly worked at the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.

She is working with a group of students at Columbia College but also interested in publishing work by journalism students, journalists, writers and bloggers across the country.

The piece can be written in the form of a column, commentary, blog or feature or news story. We are interested in stories or columns on a variety of topics from culture to family, immigration to politics or health care and education.

This Web site was originally founded with a New Media Women Entrepreneurs grant awarded by J-Lab, The Institute for Interactive Journalism, based at American University, with funding from the McCormick Foundation.
